Miro Hacek is Professor at the Department of Political Science at the Faculty of Social Sciences. He runs courses Introduction to Political System, Introduction to Public Administration and Regional and Local Government. From 2005 to 2007 and 2013 to 2017 he was the Head of political science department; from 2007 to 2011 he was also Head of policy analysis and public administration department at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ljubljana. From 1999 to 2009 he was General Secretary of the Slovenian Political Science Association, while in May 2009 he was elected President of the Association and in June 2011 for the vice-president of the Association. Between 2012-2018 he served as the Vice-President of Central European Political Science Association (CEPSA), and from 2018 he is current President of the Association.
He also conducts a class on »Comparative Local Government in Europe« in the joint master’s programme Comparative local development (CoDe) at the University of Trento, Italy. He is COST actions "ProSEPS" and "ConstDeb" national representative.
In 2020 he is Fulbright S-I-R Fellow at Black Hills State University (BHSU), US. He was visiting professor to University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2018), University of Johannesburg (summer 2018), Hong Kong Baptist University (2005, 2007), South Dakota State University (2009, 2010), Hughes Hall, Cambridge (2001) and De Montfort University, Leicester (2016). He is Editor-In-Chief of international Journal of Comparative Politics (link). He has published many scientific articles, papers and books in the Slovenian and English languages.
